EAT ME OUT! 😋

A cookbook you can read in the kitchen and on the toilet!

We want your recipe- and your story- to be a part of EAT ME OUT, our first Queer Family Cookbook! We often talk about chosen family, but this chosen family can lack the heritage of the cultures and regions and communities we have so often left behind. Whole Foods doesn’t carry pig’s feet.

Many of us get homesick over the foods we have left behind. With EAT ME OUT, Dissonance Press wishes to create a gathering place for the stories, recipes, and history that bring us together. Let’s bring family to family--from American to International, recipes that combine great eating with the richness of our lived experiences.

Submission Guidelines:

Send submissions to theafterschoolsubmissions@gmail.com and include:

1.     Recipe with list of ingredients and cooking directions.

2.     A story that can accompany the recipe. The story about the receipt should be no longer than 1000 words and would ideally be around 500 words.

3.     If your recipe uses ingredients that might be hard to locate, that’s okay! Not your problem.

4.    Deadline: Rolling Submissions

Each piece selected for publication will receive a $50 honorarium. This project will select five initial recipes, then have a rolling deadline, published serially in EAT ME OUT on the Dissonance Press website. We plan to interview and video some of the contributors to discuss their recipes and share a bit about themselves through their cooking via YouTube and other platforms. When we have acquired enough recipes, we will create an e-book and limited-edition printed cookbook.
